Modern web-scale applications place exacting demands on data for speed and latency. These demands are difficult to satisfy with heritage SQL data systems, which were never designed for modern applications or deployment mechanisms like containers. On top of that, the need for SQL-like consistency and transaction integrity remains. Is it possible for a database to reconcile all of these competing requirements? In this session we will go through different use cases where Tanzu GemFire can provide value to the customer and outcomes it drives. We will also go through the high-level overview of the product.
Pulkit has been working in the data space for more than a decade with specific focus on building high performance applications on virtualized environments. He has been working on Tanzu GemFire product for past 6 years, first an engineer and later as a Product Manager. Currently he leads the Tanzu GemFire product team. Previously, he worked with SAP labs bringing SAP CRM to the first generation of cloud infrastructure. He also worked with Royal Bank of Scotland building their front office trading applications. In his free time, he likes to read non-fictional books and travel.
Tiffany is a senior developer advocate at VMware and is focused on Kubernetes. She previously worked as a software developer and developer advocate (nerd whisperer) for containers at Amazon. She also formerly worked at Docker and Intel. Prior to that, she graduated from Georgia Tech with a degree in electrical engineering. In her free time she likes to spend time with her fiancé, family, and friends, as well as dabble in photography. You can find her on Twitter @tiffanyfayj.
