As Luke started his Jedi training, he realized he wasn’t on Tatooine anymore; he was now part of a larger system, the Force. In this installment of SpringOne Tour, we’re going to teach our cloud native Spring Boot applications how to wield the Force by building on abstractions that know about and incorporate Kubernetes itself.
Join VMware Tanzu team members Michael Coté, Olga Maciaszek-Sharma, and Marcin Grzejszczak for Booternetes II: The YAML Strikes Back. (And yes, that’s #booternetes.)
And, stick around for Tanzu team members and experts Jakub Pilimon, Jonatan Ivanov, Nenad Momcilovic, and Timo Salm for an interactive workshop on where you’ll learn to apply some of these concepts in practice.
Michael Coté studies how large organizations get better at building software to run more efficiently and grow their business. He covers this topic in his books, Monolithic Transformation (O’Reilly Media, 2009) and The Business Bottleneck (O’Reilly Media, 2020). He’s been an industry analyst at RedMonk and 451 Research, done corporate strategy and M&A, and was a programmer. He also co-hosts several podcasts, including “Software Defined Talk.” Cf. cote.io, and is @cote on Twitter. Texas forever!
Olga Maciaszek-Sharma is a software engineer in Spring Cloud Team at VMware, where she works primarily on Spring Cloud LoadBalancer, Spring Cloud Contract (of which she was the first user and one of the first contributors), Spring Cloud OpenFeign and Spring Cloud Netflix projects.
Author of books on testing and video courses. Lead of Spring Cloud Sleuth, Spring Cloud Contract projects at VMware.
Jakub is a developer advocate at VMware, blogger, programmer, and trainer. He loves to tackle complex enterprises with domain-driven design, test-driven development, and Spring. Architecture is a main area of interest, too. When he doesn’t program, he rides motorbikes, skis, or practices kitesurfing.
He writes a DZone MVB-awarded blog and his pet projects can be found at https://github.com/ddd-by-examples.
Jonatan Ivanov is an enthusiastic Software Engineer working in the Spring Cloud Team, one of the leaders of the Seattle Java User Group, speaker, author, certified dragon trainer. He has hands-on experience in developing and shipping innovative, production-ready software for industry-leader companies. He likes Distributed Systems, Production, Open Source, Math, Linux, Cloud environments; he is passionate about the Java Ecosystem and the Java Community. He is an Open Source contributor, writes a “develotters”-focused blog (https://develotters.com), sometimes can be found on Twitter(@jonatan_ivanov) and in the Seattle area but he is originally from Hungary.
Ivan has been in the tech industry for a couple of years, having previously worked as a developer and now as an associate product marketing manager, which sees him using demos at conferences to teach technologies to users with varying levels of skill . He also writes guides, authors blogs, and produces videos for VMware and the open source community. Currently, he is learning Kubernetes, container technologies, developer and cloud platforms, and application performance monitoring. For fun, Ivan sometimes looks into ML, mobile apps, and scripting. He lives in Colorado and loves music, art, nature, and of course his family and his dog. If you want to reach him, give him a shout-out on Twitter @IvanTarin2.
